I've been taking pictures since I was a young boy. Both of my parents each had their own cameras and took a lot of pictures. My father and mother both took quite a bit of pictures during my childhood. I was always asking my parents if I can take pictures with their point and shoot cameras and they were always gracious and generous with fulfilling my wishes. So you can say I have definitely followed in their footsteps with my passion for photography.
My father eventually bought an Olympus SLR with a 300mm lens and would take pictures at my soccer and baseball games. I started using my father’s SLR film camera and telephoto lens during high school, taking it down to the Giants and A’s games to snap photos of my favorite MLB players like Kirk Gibson, Leon Durham and Dwight Gooden.
Right after graduation from high school, I purchased my first SLR film camera, an Olympus OM2S. I took my first black and white photography class in my first year of college and fell in love with the entire process of taking photos to processing them and seeing the images appear right before my eyes in the dark room. It was like magic!
But once I got into the working world in corporate America in 1990, I sadly stopped taking pictures with my SLR and moved to a simpler point and shoot camera.
