Bio
Welcome to my website! I'm Rick Morris from the San Francisco Bay Area and the guy behind IntheWildwithRick!
I've been a photographer for most of my life but really got into bird photography during the pandemic after losing my tech job.

My mother and father took quite a bit of pictures during my childhood so I’ve followed in their footsteps with their passion for photography. I started taking pictures during high school with my father’s SLR film camera and telephoto lens, taking it down to the Giants and A’s games to snap photos of my favorite MLB players.

Right after graduation from high school, I purchased my first SLR film camera. I took my first black and white photography class in my first year of college and fell in love with the entire process of taking photos to processing them and seeing the images appear right before my eyes in the dark room. It was like magic!

But once I got into the working world in corporate America, I stopped taking pictures. As digital cameras became more popular in 2008, I decided to get back into photography and purchased my first DSLR camera, a Nikon D700 full frame camera, and I started taking pictures of hummingbirds, shorebirds and raptors but again took a break from bird photography from 2013 to 2020.
Like many Americans, due to the Coronavirus, I was laid-off from my corporate job in April 2020 and as a result my passion for bird photography was reignited.

In December 2020, I opened an Etsy shop where I offer bird calendars, greeting cards and print and canvas enlargements. I've had a few photo exhibits at a local coffee shop and my bird images have been featured 3 times in the past few years in our local PUNCH lifestyle magazine.

At the beginning of 2024, I launched IntheWildwithRick Birding Tours. As of June 2024, I have led 26 birding tours with over 110 people and it has been a blast! If you would like to join me, please send me an email!

Thank you for reading my biography and I hope you enjoy my images! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or comments.

Thank you!
Rick
