February 2024 - Birding on Oahu

We went to Hawaii earlier this year and there was a nice park right next to our hotel so I was able to get some decent birding in while the wife and kids played at the beach or watched tv in the hotel.

This cute little one was hopping right toward me! Reminded me of a Puffin bird but it's a Java Sparrow, also known as a Java Finch.

This is one of the most beautiful birds of Hawaii. White Fairy Tern commonly seen in Honolulu.

And I don't typically take pictures of roosters but this was the most colorful and beautful rooster I have ever seen! Although apparently it is called a Red Junglefowl also known as the Indian Red Junglefowl and is a species of tropical bird in the fowl and pheasant family mainly found across much of South Asia.
